Bache-Gabrielsen "Aged 14 years" 2011 Cognac - Petite Champagne
"2011 turned out to be the hottest year in France since weather records began a century ago. One of the main features of 2011 was an exceptionally mild and very dry spring and autumn. April and October were the warmest on record, with April, for example, exceeding the average by more than 4.2°C. The hot, dry weather produced this fabulous 2011 vintage from Petite Champagne."
On the nose, notes of spices, hazelnuts and bay leaves. On the palate, notes of freshly roasted coffee and nuts.

The Bache-Gabrielsen house was founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a Norwegian who had moved to France. Since then, cognac production has remained in the family, and today the founder’s great-grandson, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, has taken the reins of the company, with Jean-Philippe Bergier as cellar master. As a négociant-éleveur, the house prides itself on selecting only the finest eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne. It ages them carefully in Limousin oak casks to bring out their full potential.
