Bache-Gabrielsen "Aged 22 years" 1999 Cognac - Grande Champagne
‘The sinking of the oil tanker Erika off the coast of Brittany, the devastation wrought by Storm Lothar in Western Europe – 1999 was a difficult year for Mother Nature! Consequently, it produced one of the smallest harvests of the century, but also one of the rarest.’
On the nose, notes of spices, a cigar box and cloves. On the palate, notes of Brazilian coffee, gingerbread and dark chocolate.

The Bache-Gabrielsen house was founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a Norwegian who had moved to France. Since then, cognac production has remained in the family, and today the founder’s great-grandson, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, has taken the reins of the company, with Jean-Philippe Bergier as cellar master. As a négociant-éleveur, the house prides itself on selecting only the finest eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne. It ages them carefully in Limousin oak casks to bring out their full potential.
