Château d'Astros "La Belle Vie" Blanc 2022 - Côtes de Provence (organic)
Ode to the sweetness of life in Provence, La Belle Vie white is made exclusively from Rolle (also known as Vermentino). The grapes are harvested at night to limit oxidation and preserve the freshness of the aromas and fruit.
This cuvée combines great aromatic finesse with a strong character. The nose opens with a bouquet of hawthorn, broom and white fruits, all in delicacy. The mouth is balanced with a beautiful tension and an expressive finish.
Maximin Martin, a rich soap maker from Marseille, acquired the Astros land in 1802. His grandson, a lover of Italian art, built in 1860 a majestic château inspired by Tuscan villas. At his death, he bequeathed the estate to the grandson of his first cousin Joseph Maurel.
Bernard Maurel gave a new impetus to the estate in 1963. He replanted the vineyards and built a cellar near the castle to produce, in 1970, its first AOC Côtes-de-Provence. The estate, whose flagship product was red wine, specialized in the production of rosé wines.
Today, it is Bruno Maurel, a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand youth institute in Marseille, who represents the 8th generation. Assisted by his nephews and nieces, he manages the family business. Since 2021, Château d'Astros is Certified Organic.
