Domaine Méo-Camuzet - Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2021
Clos de Vougeot is one of the jewels of the Burgundy vineyard, classified among the great growths of the Côte de Nuits. The legendary Méo-Camuzet estate produces this cuvée from the best part of the vineyard, the upper part: it benefits from excellent drainage, and the grapes reach an optimal maturity there. The result is a wine of exceptional elegance, both powerful and subtle, that lives up to its reputation and has great ageing potential.
Review for the 2019 : 93-95+/100p The Wine Advocate: "Méo's 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is shaping up brilliantly, mingling notes of orange peel, cassis and plums with notions of rose petals, sweet soil tones and exotic spices. He immersed himself in the domaine, the vines, and the winemaking process with his father as a mentor, of course, but also with Henri Jayer who, having retired, nevertheless agreed to share his technical know-how and his art of winemaking. Christian Faurois, son and nephew of other historical tenant farmers of the domaine, taught him everything he needed to know about the vineyard and transmitted to him his passion for the land.
Since 2008, Jean-Nicolas has been cultivating the 17 hectares of vines planted on the estate. Today, the Méo-Camuzet estate is one of the most renowned in Burgundy - mostly red wines, with a significant proportion of white wines: nearly 4 hectares of Chardonnay.
