This special bottling was created in honour of the centenary of House of Suntory, Japan's first and oldest malt distillery, founded in 1923.
Yamazaki Mizunara single malt is made from meticulously selected malt whiskies, all aged for at least 18 years in Mizunara casks. The result showcases the rare and distinctive beauty of Mizunara oak, which is considered to be Yamazaki's signature 'enhancer', offering a unique Japanese character and elegance.
The Yamazaki distillery is now a leading name in top-of-the-range whiskies, and belongs to the Beam Suntory group.
Yamazaki Distillery is located in Shimamoto, Osaka Province. Founded in 1923 by Mr. Masataka Taketsuru on the island of Hokkaido, it is the first historical distillery to be created in Japan.
Its founder studied in Glasgow before returning home with his Scottish wife. But he also brought back in his luggage the desire to make Whisky in Japan: he set up the Yamazaki distillery.
