Rapariga da Quinta - Colheita Seleccionada 2017 - Portugal
This Portuguese wine from the Alentejo region (in the south of Portugal, in between Lisbon and the Algarve) blends Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It is aged for 6 months in used French oak barrels. Easy to enjoy, it shows a nose full of sweet red fruits combined with toasty notes. On the palate, it is fruity, medium-bodied, with soft tannins and good acidity.
Created in 2004, the Rapariga da Quinta wines are made from grapes from a family estate in Reguengos de Monsaraz, called Terra Calma.
Winemaker for 30 years, Luis Duarte was awarded 3 times by the specialized Portuguese press as best winemaker of the year in Portugal: in 1997, 2007 and 2014. In 2006 he started his own wine business and he is now consultant for some of the most prestigious wineries in Alentejo. His wife Dora Simoes was for many years ambassador for Portuguese wine. Before joining Luis Duarte's company she was the president of the Alentejo wine region.
