Bache-Gabrielsen "Aged 30 years" 1993 Cognac - Borderies
This single-estate cognac comes from the vineyards of the late Mr Garraud in Chérac-Borderies and was aged for 30 years in his own cellar. Mr Garraud was a friend of the house, a passionate winegrower and a cognac expert with whom we worked for decades. The winter of 1993 was characterised by bitterly cold, dry weather, followed by a mild, rainy spring. These particular weather conditions forced the vines to grow and produce their very best grapes."
On the nose, this 1993 vintage reveals great finesse, with very rounded aromas of fresh flowers, balanced by flavours of ground almonds and apricot. On the palate, the generous notes of hazelnut, fresh vanilla and old leather are confirmed.
Ageing: 30 years in Limousin oak barrels
Characteristics: Natural colour; Not cold-filtered
Limited edition
The Bache-Gabrielsen house was founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a Norwegian who had moved to France. Since then, cognac production has remained in the family, and today the founder’s great-grandson, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, has taken the reins of the company, with Jean-Philippe Bergier as cellar master. As a négociant-éleveur, the house prides itself on selecting only the finest eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne. It ages them carefully in Limousin oak casks to bring out their full potential.
