A light and fruity wine with typical tannins. Abouriou, meaning ‘early’ in Occitan, is a modest grape variety from Lot-et-Garonne. Its alcohol content is slightly lower than more traditional grape varieties. This cuvée is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness of its aromas. It contains no added sulphites or additives and has been certified ‘Vin Méthode Nature’ since 2022.
The vineyard is located on a south-facing hillside above a small limestone cliff overlooking the small valley of La Masse, a tributary of the Garonne. The soil is moderately deep and clay-limestone.
Le Domaine de Quissat is a 50-hectare family farm located in the heart of the Lot-et-Garonne hills. It is run by Romaric and Agathe Hardy, farmer-winemakers. The small 5-hectare vineyard has been organically farmed since 2000 in a preserved environment, surrounded by woods and plots that are also organically farmed, in the commune of Bazens.
The grapes are harvested by hand, the yeasts are indigenous, the addition of sulphites is kept to a minimum and several cuvées are produced without added sulphites or any other additives. The Biocohérence label for the entire farm and the Vin Méthode Nature label for some of the cuvées reflect a desire to work as virtuously as possible.
