Domaine Chiroulet "Grande Réserve" 2020 - Côtes de Gascogne

The Grande Réserve cuvée masterfully expresses the precious essence of the estate's old vines, planted on its finest clay soils. This is achieved through careful ageing, resulting in a balance that reflects its high maturity and skilfully polished tannins.

Merlot and Tannat compose a fortissimo duo. It is tempered by a skilful ageing that combines the virtues of French oak from the Haute Futaie with Caucasian oak. After a year in barrels, this major phase is followed by refinement in wooden vats to perfect the flavours and finish of the tannins. Thus crafted, this highly expressive wine can be enjoyed in its youth and savoured over time, gradually revealing its full potential.

The symbolic first stone of Domaine Chiroulet was laid in 1893, the year in which the Armagnac community mentioned him as one of its members. At that time, the property covered five modest hectares dedicated to mixed farming and livestock, like many Gers farms of the time. 

Today, Philippe Fezas is in charge of the property. Guided by a sense of challenge and with a background as an agricultural engineer and oenologist, he has set the estate on a course of excellence. In particular, his experience in wine maturation, acquired with Seguin-Moreau, a reference cooper, broadens and refines his knowledge through his own wines. He practices responsible viticulture in phase with his environment.
