A legendary wine and a reference.

In the heart of the Pomerol plateau, Le Pin is a property owned since 1979 by Jacques Thienpont. The vineyard is composed today of 7 parcels for a total of only 2 ha. The property is planted with 100% Merlot on a gravelly clay and sandy gravel soil with iron traces. Le Pin is made in tiny quantity. It is the result of an ambitious vinification in small stainless steel vats, followed by an 18-month aging in new barrels.

"These are intense wines, marked by notes of new oak and smoke (toast, mocha), black fruits (black currants) and exotic spices. But they are also silky and delicate: we speak of haute-couture, with a high ageing potential (10 to 50 years). 2019: "A bewitching, glowing nose that perfectly represents the genius of "Le Pin" that is so difficult to define, with its sweet and elegant floral aromas (orange blossom, acacia and lily of the valley) and opulent, chocolatey fruit, with top notes that evoke hay. On the palate, it is a controlled explosion of ripe fruit that fills every corner of the mouth, with sweet notes of licorice, Damask rose, fine chocolate and coffee bean, slightly vanilla.
