Louis Roederer Collection 246 Brut Champagne
Collection 246 represents the 246th blend from Maison Louis Roederer. This multi-vintage cuvée is based on 55% of the 2021 harvest, enriched by 35% of perpetual reserve wines from the 2012 to 2020 vintages, and 10% of reserve wines aged in wood from 2012 to 2017.All the Collection parcels, from the Louis Roederer estates and long-standing partnerships, have been redefined to retain only those best suited to its identity, rooted in the heart of the Champagne terroir.
This 246th cuvée from Maison Louis Roederer captures the freshness, precision, and tension of the year. The Chardonnays in particular, present in the blend in unusual proportions, delivered elegant, fine and salty grapes, while the Pinots also captured the light and fresh character of the year, less powerful than usual.
Aged for nearly four years in our cellars, Collection 246 delivers a delicate and shimmering score, reminiscent of the character of certain blanc de blancs champagnes. Carried by the tension and balance of the year, the freshness of the Réserve Perpétuelle and the complexity of the reserve wines aged in wood, it reveals itself with ease and lightness, unfolding accomplished fruit, between mirabelle plum and candied citrus, accompanied by a subtle touch of wood and the charm of toasted and iodine notes.
A faithful companion to fine dining, promising long aging potential, it can be enjoyed now or after several years, revealing a new facet of its identity.
In 1845, Louis Roederer decided to purchase 15 hectares in the Verzenay grand cru. The idea, strange at a time when grapes were of little value, was to become a winegrower in order to better control the production of his vintages. Since then, all Louis Roederer vintages have been produced exclusively from their own vineyards, which is unique in Champagne. The search for diversity in terroirs, crus, plots, grape varieties, and other factors—true Climats, in the Burgundian sense of the term—became a matter of course for Louis Roederer, and specific purchases of sites selected for their ability to produce a particular type of wine became the norm. This policy remains an essential condition for the House's development. In 2024, the Louis Roederer vineyard covers 250 hectares, comprising 420 plots.
Still independent and still family-owned, Maison Louis Roederer is now run by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the family line.
