Russolo Doi Raps 2019 - Italy
Doi Raps means 'Two Bunches' in Friulian. This delicious blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Bianco is made from the two best bunches that are left on the plant until the very last day of harvesting. They are picked by hand, at maximum ripeness, resulting in a generous and ample wine with intense aromas of ripe fruits. Its fullness is balanced by a lifted elegance.
The history of the Russolo family has been intertwined for more than a century with the enology of Eastern Veneto, even though Russolo winery was "only" established in 1974, when Iginio and his wife Sonia started their project. In 1990, they purchased vineyards in San Quirino and built a few years later a brand new winery. More recently, their children Antonella and Rino have taken over, making fresh, mineral and aromatic wines. Committed to low yields, they are focused on high-quality wines with concentrated varietal character. They also thrive to be environmentally responsible, using organic fertilizers as opposed to chemicals, limiting the use of sulphur, and adopting lighter glass bottles to reducing the CO2 emissions during transportation.
