LOUIS XIII Set of two crystal glasses
The large faceted LOUIS XIII glass, designed exclusively for LOUIS XIII, reveals the many nuances of Louis XIII Cognac.
The ideal size for tasting 4 cl of LOUIS XIII Cognac. Height: 21 cm.
Each LOUIS XIII glass is unique and meticulously handcrafted by nine Master Crystal Makers, who pass each piece from hand to hand.
This crystal is delicately shaped before being blown to give it its initial form. Much like the craftsmanship required to form the medallions on a LOUIS XIII decanter, a small fragment of crystal is meticulously applied to form the stem. The master crystal maker uses his traditional tools to ensure a round, uniform shape that will allow the glass to remain in its final position.
Once achieved, the facets of the glass are cut one by one into the crystal, giving it its iconic shape. As with a cut diamond, light is diffused and reflected, bringing to life the myriad facets of LOUIS XIII’s mahogany colour.
The result of this unique craftsmanship, LOUIS XIII glasses may vary slightly in length or width. The uniqueness of each glass is later expressed through a myriad of notes when two LOUIS XIII Cognac glasses are clinked together, creating an enchanting symphony of chimes.
Louis XIII cognac is one of the most prestigious and rare cognacs. It is a complex blend of the best batches (up to 1,200 different batches) of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, the premier cru of the Cognac region. Four generations of cellar masters have succeeded each other over a century to elaborate this cognac. Today, Baptiste Loiseau is the one who chooses the eaux-de-vie that he will leave to his successors.
This cognac was named "Louis XIII" in homage to King Louis XIII who favored the trade of brandies during his reign. Since 1876, it has been exported all over the world and the decanter that houses it was exhibited at the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. Both a jewel and a work of art, it is decorated with fleur-de-lis, the royal symbol. No two decanters are alike. Handcrafted by the best master crystal makers throughout Europe, each decanter is numbered, attesting to its uniqueness. Its lines are enhanced by a 20-carat gold neck and decorated with 10 laces. A chip embedded in the cork allows customers to join the Louis XIII Society, a private club whose members can enjoy exclusive content.
Tasting Louis XIII cognac is a real journey through time, a discovery to appreciate each note of a unique blend. To serve the cognac, use a Louis XIII pipette to extract the amber liquid, drop by drop, as the cellar master would do. Serve the cognac at room temperature in the exclusive matching glasses, specially designed to reveal each nuance. Let the cognac sit in the glass for a few minutes and then gradually move closer to capture the full richness of the aromas. Place a drop on your lips to prepare the palate.
Louis XIII cognac is a creation of the Rémy Martin house, founded in 1724 by Rémy Martin, who comes from a long line of Charente wine growers.
