Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky -Distiller's Reserve
Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve was born from an atypical encounter between Japan, Spain and France. It is composed of a whisky less than 10 years old that has been matured in French oak barrels of Bordeaux wine for the aromatic richness, of whiskies aged in sherry barrels for more than 20 years, and to harmonize it all and provide the spicy notes, of a whisky aged in Japanese oak barrels, the very precious mizunara, a rare variety of oak that brings complex notes of coconut, sweet spices (vanilla and cinnamon) and Japanese incense. Aromas of strawberry, white peach and cherry complete the ensemble.
Yamazaki Distillery is located in Shimamoto, Osaka Province. Founded in 1923 by Mr. Masataka Taketsuru on the island of Hokkaido, it is the first historical distillery to be created in Japan.
Its founder studied in Glasgow before returning home with his Scottish wife. But he also brought back in his luggage the desire to make Whisky in Japan: he set up the Yamazaki distillery.
