Chita Suntory Whisky
Built in 1972 in the south of the city of Nagoya, Chita distillery has 40 years of experience in distilling Japanese grain whiskies, which have traditionally been used as the "dashi" or broth that enhances the harmony of the Suntory blends. This know-how was used to release in September 2015 an outstanding single grain whisky.
Through a rare continuous distillation process using two, three or four columns, the distillery creates three types of grain whisky—clean, medium, and heavy. These whiskies have been aged in a variety of casks (American oak, Spanish oak used for Sherry and French oak previously used for Bordeaux wines) before coming together to produce the Chita Single Grain Whisky. Smooth, versatile and complex, with a subtle sweetness, it offers remarkable balance and elegance.
The Chita Distillery belongs to the Suntory group.
