L'Agassant d'Agassac 2011 - Haut-Médoc
Have you ever tasted a Bordeaux that doesn't take itself too seriously? L'Agassant d'Agassac', the enfant terrible of Château D'Agassac, is a relaxed, mellow, and fruity Médoc that goes well with any cuisine in the world.
Made from 90% Merlot and coming from very fine deep gravel terroirs, this offbeat wine is ‘A joyful, crisp Merlot that puts a smile on your face from the first sip’ (Nouvel Observateur, May 2009).
Fruity notes of cooked plums and paprika, wrapped in aromatic touches of menthol and camphor, which develop in small, discreet bursts. After a little oxygenation, more candied notes emerge, reminiscent of macerated Agen prunes and elderberry jam. After a little oxidation, the nose evolves towards wilder notes with scents of garrigue and heather.
The palate is crisp and unctuous, with a supple tannic structure that coats the palate with ripe, velvety tannins and spicy, stewed flavours. The elegant, fresh finish leaves an impression of bay leaf and black pepper.
