Cognac Vaudon - XO Carafe
A rich and delicate Cognac with pretty notes of violet, mango and walnut that move towards candied orange peel and peach. The bouquet is first floral then fruity and subtle, with no lack of charm. The attack is soft and silky, the exotic notes are very present and last several minutes after tasting.
Bernard Vaudon and Anne-Marie Mousset, both coming from winegrowing families, run this estate whose history dates back to 1771. They are the guardians of an ancestral know-how.
The Cognac Vaudon brand focuses on a single cognac "cru": Fins Bois, the greatest cru of the region. It is supported by a hard limestone clay soil. It brings body and sweetness to the Vaudon cognacs. This cru is known to develop quickly and to present at a young age notes of spices and licorice. The viticulture approach is respectful and aims at maintaining the fertility of the soil. The wines used for distillation are made from the Ugni Blanc grape. They are sulfur free, which is rare. They are fruity and fresh, with aromas of ripe pear, and a light brioche note due to their aging on the lees before distillation.
