Cognac Park - Borderies Mizunara Aged 12 Years
blend of 100% Borderies eaux-de-vie. This cognac spends 10 months in new oak barrels, then is transferred to red oak barrels. At the end of its 12-year ageing period, it spends a further 9 to 12 months in new Japanese oak barrels, the Mizunara. Subtle smoky and spicy notes are found.
Mizunara oak, an extremely rare Japanese wood, is found in the legendary Nikko forest. This complex wood gives Park Cognac a unique, slightly spicy flavor and depth, while the Borderies give it roundness, softness and violet notes.
A family business created in 1880 by Gaston Tessendier, the Distillery owns today more than 25 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the most exclusive "cru" of the Cognac region: the Borderies. 4th generation Cellar Masters Lilian and Jérôme Tessendier distill, compose and blend the eaux-de-vie which, thanks to the rigor and daily attention of the whole team, will become Cognac Park. The house is know for its pure, delicate and complex style.
Dominic Park is originally from Scotland; he worked in the wine trade for 10 years in London before discovering the Cognac region. He had the idea to create a house under his name, specialized in pure distillates presented in a minimalist packaging.
In 1993, he joined forces with Jérôme Tessendier to create Cognac Park. They pioneered "handmade" cognacs, what will be called much later craft cognacs. Dominic passed the torch in 2008 and Distillerie Tessendier became the sole owner of Cognac Park.
