Couvent des Jacobins 2020 - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate takes its name from the Jacobins convent (the name once given to the Dominican order) installed in the 13th century in the heart of Saint-Émilion. A complex, powerful wine with elegance and length on the palate.
"Dressed in a deep garnet-purple colour, it brings out aromas of cooked blackberry, black cherry jam and plum compote, as well as hints of damp earth, espresso and liquorice with a hint of wild mushrooms. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut, with generous black fruit flavours interwoven with mineral tones and hints of exotic spices. The whole is supported by grainy tannins, great freshness and a very energetic finish. Drinking window: 2027 to 2042. Score - 92-94. "

Le Couvent des Jacobins is a family affair: in 1902, Jean Jean, a winegrower in Saint-Émilion, bought the property. It is his great-great-grandson Xavier who today perpetuates the tradition of the Grand Cru Classé, adding a touch of innovation. In September 2020, the estate obtained the "Organic Agriculture" certification by Ecocert France. The vineyard comprises 10.7 hectares on four parcels.
