Château la Bienfaisance "Sanctus" 2005 - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
A well-balanced, mouth-watering wine with aromas of red fruit and spices. The oak and the tannins are both well-integrated. Composed of mostly Merlot with a little Cabernet Franc, this cuvée is made from vines that average 40 year old; the grapes are harvested by hand. 50% of the wine is matured in new barrels.
Created by the merger of two neighbouring estates, this 15-hectare property located on the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, north-east of Saint-Émilion, has belonged to the Duval-Fleury and Corneau families since 1990. Formerly Ch. La Bienfaisance, the estate changed its name in 2015 to Ch. Sanctus - the name of the first wine made from the best parcels, with La Bienfaisance de Sanctus becoming the second wine. Caroline Gaullier has been at the helm of the winery since 2012.
