Couvent des Jacobins 2019 - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate takes its name from the Jacobins convent (the name once given to the Dominican order) installed in the 13th century in the heart of Saint-Émilion.
The 2019 vintage is composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. It was aged for 12-15 months in oak barrels, 45% new. The wine offers aromas of black fruits, vanilla, toasted bread, as well as spicy notes (cumin, sandalwood, cloves). A rich and opulent wine with a lot of freshness and tension.
Le Couvent des Jacobins is a family affair: in 1902, Jean Jean, a winegrower in Saint-Émilion, bought the property. It is his great-great-grandson Xavier who today perpetuates the tradition of the Grand Cru Classé, adding a touch of innovation. In September 2020, the estate obtained the "Organic Agriculture" certification by Ecocert France. The vineyard comprises 10.7 hectares on four parcels.
