Méo-Camuzet Frères & Soeurs - Chambolle-Musigny 2021

This wine is characterized by its power and structure. Its intensity, ripeness and acidity are high, a rare and interesting combination. Logically, you should wait at least three or four years after bottling before tasting it, as it can be tight at first. The ageing potential is excellent, so don't hesitate if you want to keep a few bottles for the little one's 20th birthday!

This is a wine that tolerates new barrels well, giving it openness and roundness, and evolves slowly. The vinification is not very interventionist, and the natural concentration is high. Fermentations also tend to be long, favoring natural extraction. This cuvée is made from two parcels, one very old and the other middle-aged. The first is located at the foot of the village of Chambolle to the east: "les Athets" are in deep but well-drained soil; a little above, towards Morey, "les Drazey" are in a typical village position, at the foot of the hillside, in semi-deep soil. The grapes are small and concentrated. The balance between sugars and acids is excellent.

For more than four centuries the Méo family has been dedicated to growing vines and making wine. In 1981, Domaine Camuzet became Méo-Camuzet and the first wines bottled under this name are those of the 1983 vintage.

He finished his studies (not without a detour to the University of Burgundy to study oenology), took a trip to the USA and returned to live in Vosne-Romanée in 1989. He immersed himself in the domaine, the vines, and the winemaking process with his father as a mentor, of course, but also with Henri Jayer who, having retired, nevertheless agreed to share his technical know-how and his art of winemaking. Christian Faurois, son and nephew of other historical tenant farmers of the domaine, taught him everything he needed to know about the vineyard and transmitted to him his passion for the land.

Since 2008, Jean-Nicolas has been cultivating the 17 hectares of vines planted on the estate. Today, the Méo-Camuzet estate is one of the most renowned in Burgundy - mostly red wines, with a significant proportion of white wines: nearly 4 hectares of Chardonnay. Jean-Nicolas and his team continue to work on the nose and th
