Méo-Camuzet Frères & Soeurs - Nuits-Saint-Georges 2021

A lot of roundness and friendliness in this wine, produced by the legendary Méo-Camuzet estate. It caresses the palate and immediately seduces with its balance. Difficult to guess the terroir of Nuits... Perhaps the nose, a little wilder than Vosne. The wine matures quite quickly in barrels, just like the pleasant profile it will present later on. The new barrel is very well handled (about 50%) and contributes to its structure.

The grapes come from a 60 ares parcel, located at the "Bas de Combes" and which makes the limit with Vosne-Romanée. Since 2013, it is being renewed because the vines are old (more than 60 years) and produce small bunches, often not much bigger than a pine cone. The cuvée has been supplemented by buying wine from a winemaker in Nuits St Georges.

For more than four centuries the Méo family has been dedicated to growing vines and making wine. In 1981, Domaine Camuzet became Méo-Camuzet and the first wines bottled under this name are those of the 1983 vintage.

He immersed himself in the domaine, the vines, and the winemaking process with his father as a mentor, of course, but also with Henri Jayer who, having retired, nevertheless agreed to share his technical know-how and his art of winemaking. Christian Faurois, son and nephew of other historical tenant farmers of the domaine, taught him everything he needed to know about the vineyard and transmitted to him his passion for the land.

Since 2008, Jean-Nicolas has been cultivating the 17 hectares of vines planted on the estate. Today, the Méo-Camuzet estate is one of the most renowned in Burgundy - mostly red wines, with a significant proportion of white wines: nearly 4 hectares of Chardonnay.
