Château de L'Ou Esprit Libre 2020 - Côtes du Roussillon
A blend of Grenache noir and Syrah with a generous nose, full of red fruits (cherry and wild strawberry). Ample, fruity, spicy, the mouth is supple and fresh, the tannins supple. A well-balanced, quaffable wine.
"L'Ou" in Catalan means "egg" in French: it is the name of the place where the property is located and where there was a resurgence of water in an ovoid shape. In 1998, Philippe Bourrier, agronomist, and his wife Séverine, oenologist, bought this 30-hectare estate, planted with 26 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of olive trees, in the commune of Montescot in the Pyrénées-Orientales, 10 km south of Perpignan. The entire property was immediately converted to organic farming.
In 2009, Séverine and Philippe decided to expand the terroirs of the estate with 8 hectares of vines in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet and 7 hectares of vines in Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, conducted in Organic Agriculture, in the Upper Valley of the Agly. In 2017, 7 hectares in Maury completed the set.
