1978 Château Roûmieu-Lacoste - Sauternes
Located in Haut Barsac, a region known for making dessert wines with both powerful and pronounced acidity, Roûmieu-Lacoste (along with Château Graville-Lacoste and Château Ducasse) is a family estate that dates back to 1890.
The botrytis being essential to the elaboration of a great Sauternes, the domaine pays a particular attention to the training of its grape pickers, so that they discern the "noble" rot, necessary to the concentration of sugars for the Sauternes, from the simple rot. The Sauternes of Château Roûmieu-Lacoste are thus of the highest quality. They offer aromas of passion fruit and apricot that develop over the years, a round and "fat" palate, very fresh, very Barsac, with a spicy finish.
