Courvoisier is a brand of cognac founded in Jarnac in 1836. In 1869, Napoleon III awarded it the title of "Official Supplier to the Imperial Court". The certificate is displayed in the Courvoisier Museum in Jarnac, alongside other Napoleonic objects. The brand is now owned by the Beam Suntory Group.

The VS is crafted primarily from eaux-de-vie from the Fins Bois growing cru with a smaller balance of eaux-de-vie from the Petite Champagne appellation. It is aged between three and seven years in french oak from the Limousin forests in the vicinity of Cognac, France.

It comes in the famous bell shaped bottle with the iconic Napoleon silhouette logo on the label and on the medallion at the base of the neck. An elegant and harmonious cognac with notes of fruit (apple, pear, peach), a touch of wood and spices.

It is a great introduction to cognac as it evokes more mature cognacs while retaining some of the youthful freshness of V.S. cognacs.
