Château Ollieux-Romanis - Born to be Wine 2020 (organic)
Château Ollieux-Romanis is a magnificent property located in Montséret, in the heart of the Corbières.
Born to be Wine is composed exclusively of Carignan. It comes from young vines, around 10 years. It is aged in stainless steel tanks.
The nose offers fine aromas of red fruits and light spices. The mouth reveals a beautiful balance, freshness and fruity notes, with silky tannins.
Surrounded by vineyards and olive trees - olivis, in Latin, gives the Occitan word "olious", which became Ollieux - Château Ollieux-Romanis has belonged to the same family since 1860. Following a reunification in 2006, it is the largest private estate in the Corbières, with 67 hectares of vines planted, including the oldest, Carignan, in 1896.
Wine is a family affair here. Jacqueline Bories was one of the first winemakers in the Languedoc at a time when wine was mainly a man's business. Without giving into fashions, she knew how to get the best out of grape varieties that were once considered of low quality: Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache gris, Alicante... In 2001, her son Pierre, after a decade in finance, joined the domaine and proposed new cuvées. The main features of the wines created by Jacqueline and Pierre: an astonishing freshness, a lot of roundness, fruit and minerality.
