Château Mangot - "Distique 9" 2016, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Château Mangot comes from a historic vineyard that goes back to 1546, and which has belonged to the Todeschini family since 1989. Located in the east of the Saint-Emilion appellation, in the commune of Saint Etienne de Lisse, Château Mangot covers 37 hectares in one piece, including 34 hectares of vineyards.
A distique ("distich") is the meeting of two linked but very different verses which form a whole of an absolute coherence. The Bordeaux poet Ausone, during the Roman Empire, used this asymmetrical and original form. This wine is thus enriched by the brotherly duality of apparent contradictions, confronting the grape varieties in an atypical way, the barrel and the amphora, dear to the Latin poet. Signature of the Todeschini brothers since 2008, this wine bears a production number for each vintage. This is the 8th vinification made by Karl and Yann.
It is aged at 80% in barrels (70% new) for a period of 14 to 16 months, the rest in amphoras. It is a powerful and well-structured wine, complex, with a beautiful freshness.
