1953 Château Fontesteau - Haut-Médoc - HS
Built and fortified in the 13th century, Château Fontesteau is located in the center of the Médoc peninsula, 50 kilometers northwest of Bordeaux, not far from Pauillac. It stands within 100 hectares of a remarkable natural environment of forests rich in hundred-year-old oaks, meadows and vines, the latter occupying about 30 hectares.
Gravelly, resting on a thick limestone slab, the soil of Fontesteau allows the traditional grape varieties of the Médoc and in particular the Cabernet Sauvignon to fully express their qualities. The plantings are split between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a slight majority of Cabernet.
Note: Label torn in places.
