Douceur Carmin 2011 - Vin de Liqueur rouge (organic)
This sweet wine is made from Grolleau, a grape variety that is not very common in France and that is concentrated in the Loire Valley. The grapes are harvested at the end of November when they are overripe. The wine is muté at the beginning of its maturation in vats, then aged in barrels for four years. It presents aromas of baked black fruits and spices (pepper, clove) with a touch of rancio. The palate is voluptuous and soft, but enhanced by a nice freshness and a vivifying acidity. A surprising wine to discover for example with chocolate cake!
This estate located just outside Angers in the commune of Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance was purchased by Mathias Levron and Régis Vincenot’s in 2002 - they bought Château de Parnay four years later. The estate vineyards form an exceptional plot, on a shale hillock overlooking the River Aubance. They are planted with Chenin Blanc and Cabernet franc. Château Princé was Certified Organic in 2015 by Ecocert.
