Cognac Forgeron - Folle Blanche 2011
Like all Michel Forgeron cognacs, this "Folle Blanche 2011" Cognac comes from the Grande Champagne terroir, the most prestigious in the Cognac production area. Aged for over 10 years in French oak barrels, it has been patiently reduced by the addition of distilled water, and is now offered at 47% alcohol, a good compromise between preservation of taste and aroma, and power on the palate. It is made from the single Folle Blanche grape variety, which is much fruitier than the Ugni Blanc used in most Cognacs.
Old gold color. A spicy, woody nose that might suggest a Lowland Scotch whisky. A palate faithful to the nose, full of spices, wood and remarkable roundness. An almost peaty, toasty finish: without doubt the most whisky of Cognacs!
The family estate has been in existence since 1909, and the "Michel Forgeron" brand was created in 1977. Today, Pierre and Christophe Forgeron take over from their parents Michel and Francine. They have set as their priority environmentally-friendly practices.
