Maverlan Syrah "Les Romanies" 2021

Olivier Pucek has lived in the Charente since 1990. Passionate about wine and viticulture, it was while looking for a few acres of vines that he discovered the historic vineyard of Saint-Sornin: a sloping hillside facing south, where vines have been grown since the 17th century. With the help of Henri Jammet, a pioneer with his famous Guimbelot vineyard, he planted in 2009 a little more than 2 hectares of vines. He focused on Gamay à Jus blanc, and also Gamay de Bouze (a forgotten grape variety of Burgundian origin, with red juice) and Pinot Noir. Thus was born MAVERLAN. 

In 2011, it's Syrah's turn. This sun-drenched grape variety has been planted here on a magnificent south-facing slope, just a few kilometers from the Dordogne. Hand-harvested, unfiltered wine.
