Fred Bernard has wine in his blood. Born just before the harvest in Burgundy, he grew up surrounded by boxes and crates of grands crus: his favourite playgrounds were the cellars of his grandfather and great-grandfather, both winegrowers. He was constantly told: ‘When you grow up, you'll make wine’. Unfortunately, he chose a career as an author, but the pleasure of wine remained.

Over the pages, Bernard translates this passion into a series of short stories based on anecdotes from his ancestors and his personal reflections on wine and wine-tasting. As usual, we find his sensitivity, humour, keen sense of observation and sensual style in an ode to the pleasures of the nectar of the vines
