Château d'Astros "Moon" Rosé 2021 - IGP Maures (organic)
Moon is a blend of Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Caladoc - a rare cross between Malbec and Grenache, developed in 1958. A round wine with a beautiful balance between fruitiness (apricot, pineapple and white peach) and the vibrant freshness of orange peel. A long and aromatic finish.
Maximin Martin, a rich soap maker from Marseille, acquired the Astros land in 1802. His grandson, a lover of Italian art, built in 1860 a majestic château inspired by Tuscan villas. At his death, he bequeathed the estate to the grandson of his first cousin Joseph Maurel.
Bernard Maurel gave a new impetus to the estate in 1963. He replanted the vineyards and built a cellar near the castle to produce, in 1970, its first AOC Côtes-de-Provence. The estate, whose flagship product was red wine, specialized in the production of rosé wines.
Today, it is Bruno Maurel, a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand youth institute in Marseille, who represents the 8th generation. Assisted by his nephews and nieces, he manages the family business. Since 2021, Château d'Astros is Certified Organic.
