Château d'Astros "Amour" Rosé 2020 - Côtes de Provence (organic)
Amour rosé is a blend of Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. This cuvée offers delicate, elegant and complex scents, with notes of white flowers, peach and citrus. The mouth is in unison, intensely aromatic. Notes of pear, grapefruit and a touch of white pepper for the final touch.
Maximin Martin, a rich soap maker from Marseille, acquired the Astros land in 1802. His grandson, a lover of Italian art, built in 1860 a majestic château inspired by Tuscan villas. At his death, he bequeathed the estate to the grandson of his first cousin Joseph Maurel.
Bernard Maurel gave a new impetus to the estate in 1963. He replanted the vineyards and built a cellar near the castle to produce, in 1970, its first AOC Côtes-de-Provence. The estate, whose flagship product was red wine, specialized in the production of rosé wines.
Today, it is Bruno Maurel, a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand youth institute in Marseille, who represents the 8th generation. Assisted by his nephews and nieces, he manages the family business. Since 2021, Château d'Astros is Certified Organic.
