Domaine François "L'Interdit d'Amour" 2020 - Bourgogne blanc (organic)
"Born white among my big brothers, the reds... The Saint-Amour appellation is forbidden to me. Yet my rarity would have deserved another reputation than this ban based on who is grandfathered. I am however like them, generous in perfume and easy on the palate with a beautiful length which reminds some of my next-door neighbours, but that is another story and I remain "L'Interdit d'Amour".
Located in Saint-Amour, in the south of Burgundy, the Domaine François 1er covers 12 hectares of vines in 5 crus Beaujolais reserved to red wines (Saint-Amour, Juliénas, Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie) and 3 crus in white Burgundy, Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran.
François Guillaume took over this beautiful property at the end of 2017 on a whim. From 2018, he decided to use only indigenous yeasts and to vinify in the traditional way without carbonic maceration in order to highlight the Gamay and its terroir. The maturation is precise, in concrete vats or in barrels. The wines are neither filtered nor fined in order to respect their own identity as much as possible. The conversion of the estate to organic farming will begin in 2022, but the wines have been worked in the cleanest possible way since the beginning of the adventure.
