Glen Garioch « 1797 Founder's Reserve » , single malt whisky
Owned by the Suntory group since 1994, Glen Garioch (pronounced "Glen Guéry") launched in 2009 a new range of whiskies much less peated than before. The "1797, Founder's Reserve" is the first expression. An opulent but very elegant single malt, with notes of vanilla and spices associated with fruity aromas of green apple and grapefruit that bring a touch of acidity and freshness. The palate confirms the aromas of the nose (vanilla, butter) and finishes with flavors of toasted oak. Fresh finish. A version without mention of age bottled at 48%, without cold filtration or coloring.
Founded in 1797 by the Manson brothers, Glen Garioch is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. It is located in the north-east of Scotland in Oldmeldrum, a large town of 2 000 inhabitants. It is only in 1973 that it bottled under its name the single malt it produces.
