Maverlan Gamay 2018

Maverlan Gamay 2018

Olivier Pucek has lived in the Charente since 1990. Passionate about wine and viticulture, it was while looking for a few acres of vines that he discovered the historic vineyard of Saint-Sornin: a sloping hillside facing south, where vines have been grown since the 17th century. With the help of Henri Jammet, a pioneer with his famous Guimbelot vineyard, he planted in 2009 a little more than 2 hectares of vines. He focused on Gamay à Jus blanc, and also Gamay de Bouze (a forgotten grape variety of Burgundian origin, with red juice) and Pinot Noir. Thus was born MAVERLAN.

The grapes come from a low-yielding plot, for a better concentration of aromas. They are harvested by hand, at the right maturity. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 20 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
